Taipei Excellence International Piano Competition 2021 (Preliminary Round)

About the Competition

The Taipei Excellence International Piano Competition is a music competition for pianists around the world. It was established to discover young and talented pianists and aims to give opportunities to inspiring pianists on their musical journeys to becoming professionals. Open to all nationalities and ages while divided into different age categories.

The Taipei Excellence International Piano Competition comprises TWO ROUNDS. Participants are required to submit video recording link for First/Preliminary Round(online). Participants who achieve the score standard are entitled to advance to the Final Round and are eligible to re-register to proceed to the Final Round. The Final Round will be held in music hall in Taipei.

We hope to give participants supreme environment by providing Steinway & Sons D-274 to ensure every pianist can bring his or her A-game. Participants will receive valuable comments from esteemed international jury panel which consists of juries from around the world. Also, First-prize and Second-prize winners of each category will be invited to perform in a recital in October this year in music hall.

General Rules

The Taipei Excellence International Piano Competition comprises TWO ROUNDS

First / Preliminary Round (Online)

1. Participants are required to submit a public link of a video recording of their performance (via YouTube, Vimeo, or other platforms). Private links will not be accepted.
2. Repertoire requirement: Participants are required to submit the recording following the assigned repertoire listed by the competition for each age category.
3. Application fee for First Round is NTD1,500. All application fees are non-refundable.
4. The recordings will be judged by the jury panel. Participants who achieve the score standard are entitled to advance to the Final Round.
5. Please re-register during the application period to proceed to the Final Round.

Final Round

1. Final Round of the competition will be held on 9th – 11th October 2021 at KHS Music Hall (2 F, No.162, Zhongshan 2nd Rd., Luzhou Dist., New Taipei City 247, Taiwan.)
2. Participants can play one or two repertoires picked by themselves for the Final Round.
3. Application fee for Final Round varies from each age category (Please refer to the attached list). All application fees are non-refundable.
4. For the Final Round, each participant’s performance will be recorded by professional recording team. All videos are available for download after the competition (the exact date will be announced then).

Prizes & Awards

First / Preliminary Round

1. Participants who proceed to the final round are eligible to register to participate in the final round.
2. Participants who are not qualified to proceed to the final round will receive a certificate of participation.

Final Round

1. Special monetary award “TEIPC COMPETITION GRAND PRIX” of NTD10,000 will be given to first-prize winner of each category.
2. Outstanding First-prize and Second-prize winners of each category will be invited to perform in winners' concert on 11^th October in music hall.
3. Prize medals and certificates will be given to all participants.
4. Teachers of participants will receive certificates of recognition.
5. Prize winners will be featured on our competition website and social media sites (YouTube, Facebook and Instagram) with their prize winning video.
6. Prizes are given following the standard below:

FIRST PRIZE to TENTH PRIZE is awarded to top ten of each category.

* Vacancy: the competition reserves the right to hold vacancy awards in case of low scores (first prize will not be awarded if the highest point is below 85)

- 85 points and above  GOLD PRIZE

- 83 points and above  SILVER PRIZE

- 75 points and above  BROWNZE PRIZE

- Below 75 points      Honorable Mention
